The Great Depression was a time of disparity; many people lost their jobs, their families, and the will to live. Many problems arose for the people of the United States. Three specific problems that these people experienced were food shortages which which was made worse due to President. Hoover's philosophy, increased racial discrimination which led to the creation of an executive order, and economic problems for farmers which was solved agreeably. Although many people struggled during this time it also showed the determination of people wanting to get better and not giving up because of how many obstacles were in their way.

I discovered my love for reading and writing again. I never genuinely liked writing before but after this English class my writing skills have grown and I have found how expressing yourself with words can be so valuable. From reading, I learned lessons that I may have never learned unless I had experienced them.
This chapter can help young writers in English class with their papers in many different ways. For instance, Trimble gives examples on what a veteran writer does in order to make their writing interesting. He also gives out techniques on how you can get a reader’s attention or how you can fix your writing to make it readable instead of having nonsense. What makes this difficult for me as a writer is that I write what ever comes to my mind and it will not make sense. Another thing that makes it difficult for me as a writer is that I am not good at getting the readers attention and having him hooked on to my work.

My Journey to Literacy As kids we are taught literacy without knowing it. Our parents or teachers have sat down with us and helped us write out our letters, sound out words, and form sentences. We were all given crayons at restaurants and a piece of paper that had fun games, cartoons, and tic tac toe. There are few people who have not learned to read and write, or have learned in a different way or at an older age.
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.

My experience as a reader isn 't as extraordinary as many, but I love to read. I had some great teachers throughout my education that taught me to enjoy reading challenge oneself and not be intimidated by it.
