I view myself as a capable leader, however the time in this course has taught me I have areas I need to improve. In the next three to five years, I will apply leadership concepts I have learned here at Intermediate Leadership Experience (ILE), to improve my leadership qualities. This vision statement’s ultimate goal is to improve my leadership skills. I’m going discuss how I see myself as a leader, how I’m going to improve over the next three to five years and how I want to be viewed as a leader. First, I’m going to talk about how I see myself as a leader, throughout the ILE modules. The self-improvement through feedback module, helped me identify myself as a Management by Exception-Passive (MBE-P) leader. Meaning, I have the tendency to sit back and wait for something to wrong before I step in. Additionally, the adaptable leader module allowed me see I’m a leader with no emotional flexibility. When my supervisor comes down with new procedures, I have the tendency to overreact and disagree with change, showing poor adaptability. Furthermore, the third module of leadership and followership solidified the fact that I view myself as a leader struggling with effective communication. I say this because, I sometimes fail to inform my subordinates of the intent behind our leaderships direction, failing to properly utilize the flow of communication.
