Junior Leadership Program Application Monticello is a town I hold very close to my heart. Through the Junior Leadership Program I hope to come to a greater understanding of the town I love so deeply, by talking to the business owners and networking with leaders in the community. I see this program as an opportunity to learn new business skills and leadership strategies, in addition to meeting new people with similar interests and goals. It is easy to doubt your abilities and it is immensely helpful to have understanding, relatable friends/coworkers to turn to. I hope to be just like the returning RAs my starting year: open-minded, optimistic, reliable, honest, and determined. Being mindful of the needs I had, and adjusting to theirs, is important to me. “Lead by example” is my favorite type of leadership, because I feel that it is so effective. Leaders come in many different shapes and forms. Some leaders only care about the business and task at hand, some leaders care too much for their employees, and other leaders have a great mix of both worlds; those are the types of leaders to have in every company. Leaders need to be fully invested not only in the business to succeed, but they need to make sure their employees are taken care of just as well as the company. Within this paper will discuss the reasons that leaders need to be involved not only within the business, but with the employees too. This paper will examine the three leadership theories, identify how they apply to my practice, and explore how these theories interact with each other. The Trait Leadership Theory is based on the belief that a person is born with special traits contributing to natural leadership abilities. Studies of famous historical leaders have been used to identify various traits for this theory. Although the list of traits differs from study to study, there are five major traits that are consistent throughout most studies.

My leadership philosophy is one driven by emotion. I want to be the leader that makes people feel. I want them to feel as though we are all part of a family and that they are cared about. I want to show them that I not only care about our job at hand but care about them personally; where their physical and mental health is always as important as reaching any goal.
1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time. I consider myself a leader, i believe this because i am the type of person that feels like if i am not the one to do it then it will not be done the right way. Whenever i would work in groups i would designate myself to be the one to do the harder assignment, because i only trusted that would take it serious, not anyone else. Also, whenever i do anything that involves a team, i like to take control, because i feel like i am the best one to work under pressure or i can choose the best solution for any situation.
