Throughout the conflicts of the US Military and the Native American Indians there was a series of fights and battles. The main issue of conflict was the control of the land due to the United States settlers and miners trying to expand westward into the Great Plains. Intro In chapter five of Laura Aull’s book, Developing Writers in Higher Education, Aull goes over her study of the presence of generality, certainty, and hedges and boosters in undergraduate students writing. Throughout this chapter she follows along several lines of inquiry (henceforth known as LOI) related to the topics, for the purpose of this paper I will only be writing about one, the use of generalization. As I read down the lines of the assignment sheet my heart began to speed up when I see that it is worth 100 points and it must be approximately four pages-that is the most I have ever had to write! I was mostly concerned about this first paper because in previous high school English classes the highest grade I had ever gotten on a paper was a B+. Dual credit composition has taught me many writing skills that I will continue to use once I get to Westminster. This course has taught me that in order to be an effective writer I must convey information in a manner which keeps the reader engaged.
My goal is to get a B in that class and I am very confident I can achieve that. 3. I think I should be able to handle the workload this semester well. It’s pretty much what I was expecting when I decide to attend college. 4.

My writing skills developed when I was a Customer Service Technician at VeriSign, Inc. (1997-2004). I provided customer support for telecommunication companies. My customer base included a variety of customers: e.g. long distance carriers, local telephone companies, cellular carriers, and their service providers. In this position I learn many ways to communicate in writing. I learn to write for my audience.
Writing a paper has been always a difficult thing for me to do so. I never interest to writing because I find that a lot requirement to fulfill as a well writing paper. They are choice make up idea of topic, and set up a theme. When actually on writing it, I need use correct words choice, and write a sudden type of paper. Also, writing an English paper, there have different tense, such as past tense, present tense and future tense, which are verbs to state when the actions or events.
Every student has their own writing process. Writing process ways is the student's way to have the best writing assignments and make who ever read it understand their main idea. In this essay I am going to explain my own writing process for various type. In chapter 4 by Keith Hjortshoj “How Good Writing Gets Written” which talks about how should develops their writing skills and gives them some tips that they should use in their writing process.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
In the beginning of this writing course, my knowledge toward this subject was not too strong. However, I have gained not only a significant amount of learning material, but also a new found pleasure for writing and grammar. I learned how to communicate with clarity and precision, and also how to make decisions (grammar, diction and word choice) appropriate to situation and audience. In the beginning of this course with having to do project one, I did not know what was expected of the teacher so I did it how I thought it was going sound right and “look” good. Little did I know that my essay did not follow the guidelines and that I was not good at describing things like I assumed, I was.
Before taking writing skills two I 've had a positive mindset towards writing because I see it as a way to express my thoughts. For example, whenever I feel a bit melancholy writing a short story or just free writing always makes me feel a bit better. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’m the best writer because like every other student I make mistakes in my writing. Although, I don’t take the editing negatively I always look back at my past essay and try to reflect on them to see how I can always improve my writing skills. Overall, I have a pretty good mindset towards writing even though I have my mistakes I know if I study harder I can become a better writer over time.
Over the this past semester in freshman composition I have learned how to write a college level paper. Going into this class, I was a little unsure and scared that I wasn’t going to be able to do the things that were required for me to do. As the semester passed I could definitely see a change in my writing. I learned how to use the appropriate punctuation, how to write and refute an argumentation paper, which I believe is my strongest piece of writing and how to research and gather information to write a strong research paper. I knew coming into this class that I was going to struggle with my punctuations, word choice, and the overall flow of the paper.
The classes I am doing well in are all my classes. I know that I can do better and that I only have two weeks left to keep my grades what they are now. I also know that my family are really hoping that I bring home a report card with nothing but a 4.0 on it. I don't want to disappoint them. I also know that I have been staying up late just so that I can complete work for classes I know can fail me and that I have to try harder
My Writing Struggles After taking AP English III, I became better at organizing my papers, but realizing I need to improve my grammar skills and staying focused on my supporting points. All throughout my writing career, I was always thought to be an outstanding writer, especially using vocabulary above my grade range. Naturally, I would see myself as an excellent writer as well until I took Mrs. Bingham’s AP English II course. Mrs. Bingham always gave pointers, tips, and work to improve my class’s writing skills as a whole.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
