Content area F, Behavior-Change Systems, includes the task list item F-01: Use self-management strategies. My submission for this content area are the field notes from lesson 7 in SPE 520, which demonstrates my understanding of self-management strategies. Self- management is comprised of 4 applications: Living more efficient daily lives, breaking bad habits and gaining good ones, the accomplishment of difficult tasks, and achieving goals (Cooper, Heron, and Heward, 2007). Self-management is the personal application of a plan and the implementation of a contingency as part of a behavior change program.

Self-Control is the ability to control your emotions and not let them interfere with the way you provide support and care. Working with J.K. was sometimes difficult and I would often leave his classroom feeling defeated. However, I did not let these feelings show during my time with the students and I tried my best shrug off the bad days by continuing to work towards future
With the experience of working as a teacher assistant for Prekinder I had several goals for my students, but one of the goals that I had to have more emphasis on is the regulation of behaviors. When I came in as a teacher assistant I noticed that my students had no management of their behaviors. This was a major concern to me so my goal was steer away from that and teach them how one should deal with the problems they come in contact with. So in order to achieve my goal I communicated with the teacher of the classroom in reinforcing the behaviors of the children that support self regulation.
Self-Directed Learning Also known as self-paced, independent, or individualized learning. In this learning strategy, the learner is ultimately responsible for what they learn. Students who use this strategy are proactive learners, and are more likely to retain and make use of the information they learn. 3. Small Group Work
The reading “The Proverbs of Administration” written by Herbert A. Simon analyzes the elements under the administrative theory. The author provides a diagnosis of the elements by presenting a different shift to the study that reveal that under different situations some elements are not clearly defined or established. The reading begins it discussion by analyzing the types of “accepted criteria” of administrative principles such as dividing the workers in four types of segments. Simon argued, “Administrative efficiency is increased by grouping the workers, for purposes of control, according to (a) purpose, (b) process, (c) clientele, or (d) place…” (p.103). In the same way, other accepted criteria for administrative efficiency are specialization,
Classroom management is the process by which teachers and schools create and maintain appropriate behavior of students in classroom settings. When classroom-management strategies are executed effectively, teachers minimize the behaviors that impede learning for both individual students and groups of students, while maximizing the behaviors that facilitate or enhance learning. Classroom management is really hard and there are many theorists that talk about it and each is different from the other where each theorist has his/her own ideas and thoughts. Some of them are mentioned below. In Redl and Wattenberg 's theories, they encompass group dynamics, self-control, the pleasure-pain principle, and understanding reality.
At the end of the day, we can only truly rely on ourselves, but considering how easy it is to fall under the influence of social media and our peers, self-reliance can be a difficult practice. Self-reliance is a major aspect surrounding Ralph Waldo Emerson’s early nineteenth century philosophy - transcendentalism, which further consists of simplifying life, nonconformity, and having a connection with nature. Modern society disapproves of transcendentalist values; for this reason, people would think being a transcendentalist in today’s world is impossible. Being a transcendentalist in modern society may be difficult, but not impossible. Living the transcendentalist lifestyle in today’s society is valuable when it comes to the simplification of life and non-conformity; however, having a spiritual connection with nature is not a requirement.
Being self-directed signifies that the students should and can participate in the evaluation of their learning activities by planning and implementing these activities. Teachers should, therefore, be willing to provide assistance rather than command authority or direct the
Self- awareness as defined by De Janasz, Dowd & Schneider, 2015 is "knowing your motivations, preferences, and personality and understanding how these factors influence your judgment, decisions, and interactions with other people" (p. 5). Good leaders are thought of as those who are able to understand others around them but more importantly those who have the ability to understand themselves and their own emotions. Therefore, knowing ones' self could be crucial for any leader or individual as in this way, they will be able to identify their strengths and shortcomings and take corrective action where necessary, in order to constantly enhance themselves. Personality tests such as the Myer Briggs type indicator, social styles and emotional intelligence
Self-Directed Learning as explained, is a deliberate (Hake, 1999) and self-planned (Tough, 1971) learning, in which the learner is the agent (Brockett &Hiemstra, 1991) and has absolute control (Carre, 2000) of the learning process. This therefore indicates that, learners steer the affairs of their learning process with no or little
In a world where lives are born and taken every second, I think back to my childhood and my earliest memory is my parents divorce, but there 's so much more to me than just that. Who I am and how I got here today is a collaboration of many more memories. My parents divorce, my siblings, friendships I’ve made and lost, achievements and failures, and my future goals and aspirations. Ultimately, all of this makes, and has made, me. It is a collection of influences, experiences, and memories that make up all of us, as individuals.
Firstly, self-control displays the student's ability to utilize the strategies that were thought through in the forethought stage. Task strategies can assist problem solving by reducing a task to its essential parts and reorganizing them meaningfully (Bruning et al,
1.2 Overview of Self-Awareness When self-awareness is used, it means to what extent people are aware of their thinking pattern, traits, feelings and behavior (Brown, 2012). Fletcher and Bailey (2003) state that it is possible to preview at our own self-assessment and assessment made by other people in relation to self-awareness for instance, the scope of which we can exactly recognise how others observe us. In the same way, Yammarino and Atwater (1997) identify self-awareness as an adeptness of an individual to view own performance related to a specific criteria and then, evaluate others assessment of the individual and monitor precisely linking the two consequences. Fletcher and Bailey (2003) states the relationship between self-awareness and performance is significant when assessing self-awareness and further presents
Teaching is not controlling, but rather working with the students to learn, grow, and succeed together. By having strong student-teacher relationships with students, the classroom will be a place for each member to express their feelings and work together. Academic success depends on these close relationships and guidance that teachers and students have with one another. Classroom management aims at establishing student self-control through a process of promoting positive student achievement and behavior. Thus, academic achievement, teacher efficacy, and teacher and student behavior are directly linked with the concept of classroom management.
