This chapter served as a guideline for whenever I find myself struggling with writing. I even looked back at it with this assignment because I was feeling insecure as to what I was writing. 1st Body: Whenever I get an essay assignment I begin to stress. I stress so much that my mind is completely useless.
While reviewing my first memo the three main issues that I saw was the unnecessary use of verbiage, ineffective use of transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and remembering to completely flesh out each test in the rule proof. The most helpful thing I can do in to help myself is just to reread my paper multiple times and even maybe have my peers to look at my paper with fresh eyes. Being concise and to the point is clearly my biggest problem. I have started to edit my paper down multiple times on different days to cut down my extremely long and over complicated sentences. I also think that if I go sentence by sentence then it will be easier for me to cut down on the words that are not needed for the sentence to make sense.
My grammar wasn’t up to that level, however, I learned new concepts that would make my paper much better. There were many parts of the paper that I would change after taking this course, but the most important lesson I learned was sentence structure and grammar. This semester was filled with many bumpy roads. I struggled in the beginning of the semester with my writings , as I didn 't feel confident enough to write a well developed writing. I seemed to find myself struggling whereas writing was not my favorable subject. The major errors I had in my writings this semester would be , grammatical errors,work citations, transition words, formatting ,paragraph development, sentence structure , and sentence level issue. Therefore I have set goals to improve my writing in the future.
Throughout the book My Sisters Keeper there is tragedy, pain, and many hard decisions. This book challenged a family to a breaking point until tragedy struck. This book shows the struggles of difficult times and how that affects people in many ways. In this journal I will be connecting, visualizing, and evaluating.
I was fascinated by her story about coming to America. I expected her life to be a bit hard since I knew they didn't have much. Im also happy I did this essay because I got a chance to know about my aunt better
I knew what I wanted to be the main points of my paper but I didn’t know how to exactly use ethos, pathos, and logos when it was a film I was analyzing instead of a text. Proofreading is still one of the things that I struggle most with in any paper. While writing my rough draft, I tend to get ahead of myself and just go on to tangents. When I proofread my own work I may not catch on to all the little grammar errors.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
In my writing at first I with many part of sentence structure and grammar. Trying to not mess up in structure I was unable convey my ideas. Over the course of the semester it has became easier by every essay. My improvement was some not severely, but learning the basic again will help me for all class and other English courses. Writing again was something I slowly was becoming accustomed again as before.
Writing process is difficult to realize since it requires a lot of skills and knowledge. Definitely, not many of us can start writhing right away without having any problems such as grammar, vocabulary or organization. However, a person can become a better writer if he or she will practice writing every day and will pay attention to his writing problems. To become a good writer, I have to improve my grammar, follow specific steps in writing process, and avoid using similar transitional words. Grammar is the number one problem in the writing process and causes me a lot of issues.
English Draft My Sister’s Keeper, written by Jodie Picoult, is a novel that was turned into a successful film. They focus on the Fitzgerald family, specifically 13 year old Anna Fitzgerald and her sister, Kate. Anna sues her parents for medical emancipation, when she is told to donate a kidney to save her sister, Kate, who is dying from a rare form of leukemia. The novel is the better medium of these; creating a sense of attachment to each character and helping the reader understand what the Fitzgerald family is going through.
My Writing Struggles After taking AP English III, I became better at organizing my papers, but realizing I need to improve my grammar skills and staying focused on my supporting points. All throughout my writing career, I was always thought to be an outstanding writer, especially using vocabulary above my grade range. Naturally, I would see myself as an excellent writer as well until I took Mrs. Bingham’s AP English II course. Mrs. Bingham always gave pointers, tips, and work to improve my class’s writing skills as a whole.
The event that has shaped me into who I am today is that I am a big sister. I am a big sister to my brother and sister. It has helped me to become a better student in school and class. Having a brother and sister, though it has been a rollercoaster in my life, it has shaped me into who I am today in school and class. I was an only child until I was almost three when my little sister was born.
There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. My overall progress in completing this ten weeks course was wonderful. Every steps and skills I learned in this English class will help me to improve on my writing skills in my other classes and will also help me in my future
