It’s a new beginning, having more freedom and getting to go to places without an adult during summer. Going on first dates with your crush, gossiping to your friends about what happened the next day. Getting so competitive during a sport playing against your bestest friend. Finally being able to get a summer job to possible save money for a car and taking responsibilities to help you for your near future. Not able to wait for homecoming, and prom, then the most important day of your life, graduation.
Summer is a time to be free and let go of stress. In the summers of the 1920’s, people often had many different options of what to do. They enjoyed different types of dancing such as the Foxtrot or the Tango. People liked the idea of not having to worry about work or other things in life that stressed them out, they just acted/behaved the way they desired. On the other hand, The Great Gatsby presents summer as having a completely different meaning.
Although summer has its negatives it has many positives as well. There could be less accidents because there is no snow and ice to worry about. With the roads being clear and the temperatures being warm it also bring more chances of road trips and vacations! Summer like winter has its positives and negatives.
I am not playing basketball this year. Hunting and miscellaneous activities are what I do in my free time . Lunch and PE are my favorite classes of the day. PE is one of my favorites, because we get to prepare for a sport. I lift and work on baseball in PE.
The Lenawee County Fair is not only fun, but educational for children and adults alike. 4-H members from around the county attend the annual Lenawee County Fair to display their progress and hard work from the previous year. There are barns filled with 4-H animals and projects. On the midway there is food, entertainment, and rides. First, is 4-H. 4-H is a large part of the County Fair.
“What’s your favorite time of year?” “Summer!” This is a common question asked by an adult, and a typical reply from a child. Of course summer is their favorite time of the year because they have summer break! 10-12 weekes full of sun and fun!
During the summer, I play on two different baseball teams, I coach one baseball team, I am a member of our local church, and I coordinate our local Summer Rec program. Baseball is one of my passions and it fills up much of my time during the summer. Coordinating our local Summer Rec program has had a great impact on my life. I was the coordinator during the summer of 2016 and I will also be coordinating again this upcoming summer of 2017. While being the coordinator, I have to make decisions that affect our community, my employees, and also the children.
A couple of years ago, my team made it to state, that was also my first year I played for the Cal Ripkin ball team. It was a lot of fun there. My dad and I stayed at an inn while a few other guys stayed at a church or another hotel. That year state was early and I got to celebrate my birthday in Garden City. My dad and I went while my mom and sister stayed behind and held down the fort.
Within all these clubs we volunteer in the community throughout the years, like the Chapman Township Haunted House we do for the community every year. In the summer I also participate in the Saint Joe’s Festival, which is held by the church I’m a member of. I usually help run the game stations.
The bad part of the year was when we didn't get to play games when it rained. The rain was so bad this summer it sucked. Games were canceled left and right and we had to take pictures inside a gym and we normally take them outside so it was a bad year with the rain but we pulled it off. When we went to buffalo wild wings it was so fun all you could here was. “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” said
I was in Flowood, Alabama in late June for my baseball State Championship game. I was with my friend on the baseball team, my mom and dad, my brothers, sister, and grandparents. It was like a 4 hour road trip. During the road trip we ate at chick-fil-a. Also, when we got to the hotel, we got situated and then went swimming and ate supper. During the tournament, our first game that we lost was stressful.
The smell of horse clogged up my nose, The freshly cut grass of the area crunched under my boots. I was excited to compete in the teton county fair, I was very hyper. I love to compete with other people and I was determined to do the best that I ever could, even though I was trying a brand new horse that had never been to fair. I was about to step up into the spotlight with my horse, when the moment stopped in time.
I already can’t wait for summer to start again. Thanks for everyone who made my summer one to
This summer I went on a vacation and played baseball. I also mowed lawns so I could pay for my baseball trips, as well as working on my farm. Right now I am helping my dad move out to the farm. For baseball this year we had a lot of games. If I wasn’t playing baseball I was mowing, or I was helping clean out an apartment.
Then I got there and realized it wasn’t that bad. We read books, counted numbers, and learned d 'nealian handwriting. My favorite part of the day was recess. I liked that we were able to go outside and play for a while. Although, I was also a bit hesitant.
