With the use of the My Virtual Life simulation, I raised a little boy that I named Anakin. With Anakin, my water broke at home one week before he was due and when he was born, both my partner and myself were so happy that we had finally were holding Anakin in our arms. Becoming new parents can be scary. As a new parent, you are suddenly responsible for someone other than yourself. There’s a new little helpless baby, who relies on you for everything. All your needs, wants, and desires have to be put aside and the best interest of the baby must be put first. When you’re a new parent, it can be hard to figure out which decisions to make and how to figure out the right parenting style. It’s a whole new ball game and almost nothing can truly prepare you for what’s coming. My partner and I could only hope that we were making the right decisions with Anakin. By the end of the simulation, it turns out that we were making the correct decisions all along. Anakin turned out to be an emotionally stable person with very good grades. In short, aspects of behavior are either due to a person’s nature or a product of the environment in which they live, or nurture. When Anakin was an infant, he was generally a happy baby. He was very happy whenever me and my partner were around (4a). I was kind of sad that his first word was the name of neighbor’s dog, but I couldn’t be too mad because he hadn’t started to actually talk instead of just point and grunt at things (4a). I honestly don’t think this was due to anything my partner or myself did as parents, rather, it just by chance (4a). We did spend a lot of time outside with the neighbor and the neighbor’s dog, so it would make sense that this would probably be Anakin’s first word
