Myers-Briggs personality indicator is not only beneficial to help you better understand yourself, but it is also useful for understanding others. When you take the typology test, you gain a letter for each of the four categories. I was an ESFP and wasn’t surprised at all because those characteristics are obvious in me. There is only two letters for each category, so you can either get one or the other. Since I was an ESFP the letters I didn’t get were I, N, T, and J. What if I had a friend with the personality type INTJ, how would our relationship work? Well in my EDUC class I was faced with a similar hypothetical situation where a couple, who had completely different personality types, just got married. After all was said and done, I learned that there were only two possible outcomes to the situation. The relationship could flourish because they would guide each other in each category, or the relationship would fail because they are too different. Looking back at my question, one of my best friends is an INTJ, but we help each other in the flaws in our personalities. Since I am an E, it is more likely that I meet and make bonds with other E’s rather than I’s. Based on this, our future relationships are more likely to be with others with our same type or same letters, but we should not let this happen. We should be more open to knowing others of all personality types. Knowing other people and the way they think can help us become more educated and knowledgeable in so many things.
