After comparing Northern Illinois University to some other colleges in the region, it can be observed that NIU dominates as an exceptional school in almost all areas. Some Universities require you to have a ridiculously high test scores and GPA and class rank, so we at NIU decided to set our standards to a reasonable level. We usually accept students with a GPA as low as 3.15, 22 or higher ACT score, as well as an average of 1065 out of 1600 on the SAT, and our freshman class rank alsp averages at about a 62 (“Northern Illinois University Requirements for Admission”, and “Fast Facts”). These requirements are considered low, especially when compared to the University of Illinois, which has an average GPA of 3.73, and has an average ACT and SAT score of 28, and …show more content…

Not only do we have a male to female ratio of about a 50-50 split difference, but also have a very diverse ethnic ratio: White: 57.0%, Black: 15.9%, Hispanic/Latino: 15.4%, Asian: 5.0%,, Native American: 0.2%, Other: 6.5% (“Fast Facts”).
