It is peculiar how one day can change the entire course of your life, let alone the entire course of a nation. One dreadful day took the lives of thousands and terrified millions. Neighbors who once trusted each other, now looked at each other with terror in their hearts and fear in their eyes. The crisis and global heartbreak brought down on America by the calamitous and fatal events of 9/11 have not been forgotten. September 11, 2001 has been engraved in the minds of terrified American citizens for the past 16 years. The fall of the Twin Towers and the death of loved ones sent the nation into complete disarray and heartbreak. The frightening events sparked anguish and misery upon aghast Americans as horrifying images of death and destruction were displayed on TV screens across America. After the misfortune of 9/11, the Transportation Security Administration(TSA) was formed to help ensure the safety of the American people on flights in and out of the country. When my mother, Rebecca, entered her office that melancholy morning, she was completely oblivious of the terrifying misfortune that would fall upon the United States of America. The sickening catastrophe was broadcasted on every news station across the country. My mother and her fellow co-workers stood in complete and utter shock as they watched the death of thousands of innocents in one-single moment. My mother could not fathom the world-shattering events that were unfolding in front of her very eyes. My mother went to check her blood pressure, thinking that she is hallucinating due to her diabetes. After confirming her blood pressure was at normal rates, and that she, in fact, was not hallucinating and what she was seeing was real. She stated, "I thought the world was ending."
