The world at first was endless space in which existed only the Creator, Nata. This world had no shape, no life, and no time, except in the mind of Nata. Eventually, the infinite Nata gathered together matter from the endless space to make the nine solid worlds. She gathered together the waters from the endless space and placed them on these worlds to make land and sea. When she had done that, she gathered together the air to make winds and breezes on these worlds.
Nata went to the world that was to first host life and solidified the earth. She sent out sound to resonate through the earth, so that the earth vibrated with the energy of herself.
Then Nata made all the plants, the bushes, the trees, and the flowers. Likewise she made the animals and the birds. When all this was done, she made human beings, using red, black, white, and yellow earth mixed with her saliva. Singing the creation song, she

For many years they and the animals lived together as one. Eventually, however, they began to divide, both the people from each other and the people from the animals, as they focused not on their similarities, but on their differences. As division became more widespread, only a few people from each of the four groups still remembered Nata. Nata appeared before these few and told them that she would have to destroy this world, and that these few who remembered Nata must travel across the land, following a star, to find refuge. These people began their journeys from the places they lived, and when they finally met, Nata appeared before them again. She opened a huge ant mound and told these people to go down to live with the ants while she destroyed the world with fire. The people went down and lived with the ants, who had chambers in which the people could live, as well as storerooms of food. This went on for quite a while, because after Nata destroyed the world with fire it took a long time for the world to cool
