The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is an organization that was developed to guarantee student-athletes safety from being exploited and endangered. The NCAA’s main objective was to establish and enforce specific guidelines and standards of conduct with the ability to modify or change the regulations when an issue arises. The NCCA considers ethical conduct a fundamental element to college football programs and hold student-athletes to high standards of sportsmanship, integrity, respect, and responsibility. However, the NCAA promotes ethical values which they encourage the institutions to adopt when developing their athletic programs. The core of the NCAA concerns ethics, honesty, respect, sportsmanship, and equality while eradicating misconduct or any indiscretions. Unfortunately, college football is a huge money making operation for colleges and often many “issues” are disregarded therefore it is important to have a compliance system that has mandatory requirements to follow. Specifically, the NCAA is a compliance–oriented organization, which is based on a reward and punishment system that uses minimum benchmarks for ethical conduct. In addition, the NCAA emphasizes the importance of respecting and following rules and regulations in an appropriate manner. Furthermore, NCAA compliance based approach deters illegal conduct and focuses on preventing and punishing non-compliant behavior. Due to the vast number of colleges and universities across the nation in which the NCAA monitors, the compliance system is the best fit and most effective way to manage and enforce sanctions.
