National Energy Outlook Report on Gas Sector of Australia Introduction Over the past 10 years many changes has taken place in the oil and gas sector of Australia. Some of the changes were of crucial nature that has significant impacts on the economy of a country. Before that period the basis objective of government was to promote free trade of oil and gas related products. The upstream gas competition was being encouraged in different states of the country with the view to provide additional incentives to the sector and consumers. Single delivery chain was being encouraged in almost all the states of country and it was considered to be the most typical sort of arrangement that involved less complexities. The typical case does not exist in the present era due to increased competition and demand from customers. Range of competing basins is involved in the entire process of gas flow. Natural gas itself always competes with coal seam methane. A pipeline grid is connecting Australia with basins. Along with third oil shock that has taken place few years back gas issues are also being faced and the major reason behind this is that gas has emerged as internationally traded item that is priced with the help of many internal and external factors being faced by the country. Energy Networks Association of Australia has raised the point that gas can be used as a transportation fuel that is quite cheaper in nature as compared to other sorts of fuels that are mainly imported to the country at very high prices. On the one hand this trend is benefitting consumers by providing them with cheaper alternative to imported fuels but is also expected to hurt the economy by making gas reserves deplete and increasing the possibility of gas availability for future generations, Any sort of natural resource depletion is risky for the economy in general and more risky for future generations in particular because of the fact that future generations will not remain able to take advantage of that particular resource. So it is important to conserve the natural resources seriously so that they may remain available to generations to come. Gas cooling is also given much importance by the state and many steps has been taken in this regard to improve the situation
