To make a significant change in the world, countless hours of preparation, of work, and proactive cooperation with others are crucial for success. I partake in few extra-curricular activities, but I have dedicated years of my life to them all. On a regular week, I have to balance French club and National French Honor Society secretary duties, community service for National Honor Society, and additional choir practice for at least two hours after school each week (while sometimes performing community service with the choir as well). I want to become an engineer; so I take AP classes that are useful and interest me because I will need to know advanced math and science concepts in college. All of these extra-curricular activities and academics will become even more relevant when it is time for me to advance my future goals of pursuing a higher education and making significant efforts to aid the world by designing helpful technology with medical applications.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. To recap, it is having a well-rounded education with just the right academics and activities best suited to your
I was actively involved in 3 sports in high school: swimming, water polo, and golf. I participated in these sports throughout my high school years, and I have kept myself active, and in shape. With practice every day after school I would get my homework done before practice, so I didn't have to worry about it later in the day. Everyday I had practices in the morning before school and after school in the evening, so optimizing my time was required throughout my day. The sports I played meant a lot to me along with academics.
Cross country and weightlifting were two extra sports I loved to be a part of because I got to meet new people and take part in an individual type sport. My main sport is softball. I have been a varsity captain all four years of my high school career and I also have gained many achievements through this sport. My varsity sports are my favorite extra- curricular projects. High school extra- curricular activities are not only important to students but also important to the high school in general.
It is a great honor to be nominated as a member of the National Honor Society. There are many reasons why I want to take part in NHS. One reason why I want to be in it is to continue to grow academically with people who have the same goals as me. I want to be encouraged, not discouraged by the people around me. If I get into NHS, it will give me a lot of opportunities to be a leader.
I made the volleyball team and was finally placed on varsity my junior year. That was the year that the team went to playoffs for the first time in thirteen long years. I was involved in National Honors Society, Dual Credit, AVID, and Pre-AP
I have always enjoyed teaching people and helping them learn so that they can succeed in school. I got involved with tutoring through National Honor Society and the A+ Scholarship Program. With National Honor Society there is many service opportunities that I am able to be involved in and I do as many as possible, but tutoring homebound has always been what I've prefered to do. This is very important to me because many of these students aren't in class to learn directly from a teacher so things can become confusing fairly quickly and I like to be there to help as much as I am able to. Even at times when it is something that I am not proficient in it becomes a learning experience for me as well as the student I am tutoring.
The activity I enjoy outside of my classes is Lacrosse. I started playing Lacrosse in third grade by joining the Farmington Youth Lacrosse team. Lacrosse is something I care about because it is something I am good at and enjoy playing. I also like being on a lacrosse team because it helps me work together with other people and collaborate on group projects in school. What keeps me playing lacrosse is there is always something you can do better and trying to be the best you can be is fun and challenging.
I have always been involved beyond the classroom with the schools I attend. I attended King Kekaulike High School in Maui. My freshman year, I was an active member in Interact club, a local service club. I was also on the junior varsity volleyball team and the girls varsity soccer team. I was the team captain for the girls varsity soccer team at KKHS both my junior and senior year.
In my four years of high school, I have been very active in everything the school has to offer. I have filled up my after school hours playing sports, performing in plays and choral concerts, and working at the school to help teach the younger generations Language Arts. During my summers, I volunteer at summer school to assist in the math classes for middle school and high schoolers while I also have a job being a lifeguard. Basketball, softball, and golf are the sports that I’ve played over my high school career. I’ve participated in four years of basketball and softball, and three years in golf.
To be in National Junior Honor Society you have to have good character, citizenship, service, and leadership. First, I have good character. I take criticism willingly, and I also welcome recommendations. Second, I demonstrate citizenship well. Civic involvement is very important, and I have high regard to freedom, justice, and respect for the American form of government.
Out of Camp Marist I played travel softball for the Ocean State Waves, and play softball for my school team: the La Salle Rams. I also play both school and club volleyball, I played club for Ocean State Limelight, and am currently playing club for Blast Volleyball and for my school team: the La Salle Rams. In the winter, I am also a Ski Instructor at Yawgoo Valley Ski Area. I instruct kids from 2 1/2 years old to regular school age kids and even some adults. I enjoyed my first year working as a Ski Instructor and look forward to the next winter season which I will continue to
I’m involved with many sports outside of school. For example, I play Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and
I do many various activities, and I am in different clubs. One kind of activity I do are, sports. I do basketball, baseball, and football. I personally like baseball the most, because of the friends you make, and how you play the game. The other clubs I am in are 4-H
I wanted to stay involved in my favorite sport, so my dad and I did some research and found the U.S.A. Hockey Student Coaching Program. I am not the greatest athlete, but make up for it in my knowledge of the sports I play. I also like to participate in academic activities like Knowledge Bowl. I took second in the Geo-Bee and went to state for Academic Triathlon last year. I also was in the 7th and 8th grade musical in both 7th and 8th grade.
