As a student that cares deeply about my academics, it is an honor to be selected for potential membership in National Honor Society. Being chosen for this prestigious association has always been a goal of mine because of the high standards I set for myself as a student and a member of the community. In the advancement of this letter, I hope to convince you of my ability to uphold all of the standards outlined in the application letter. Initially, I would like to share with you my scholarly achievements, history, and ambitions. Being a fairly shy person, it can be difficult to step out of my comfort zone and lead, but I like to think that I am a valuable leader when I step up. In middle school, I have had a great deal more leadership opportunities than in high school as I am only a sophomore, but I am actively seeking leadership roles in the classroom and activities I participate in. Holding a position as a club officer for Cub Club throughout my 7th and 8th grade years has taught me a great deal about what it means to truly be a leader. Leadership requires responsibility, commitment to doing the best you can for your community and the people you lead, and overcoming obstacles. During my time as a club officer, we partnered with Children’s Village, first when we did the Christmas toy drive, then when we went through training to volunteer with the kids. This time we spent volunteering was crucial, as it highlighted those three essential components of leadership. This is shown when I took on the responsibility of being an accountable volunteer, did what I could for the children during our toy drive, and overcame the obstacle of being untrained in how to interact with the children our team wanted to work with. A few of the service projects I have helped at are, as I have mentioned before, helping with the Children’s Village toy drive, volunteering at the Tamale Festival as a leadership student, and serving at the Cast for Kids event. These service opportunities have impacted me greatly by showing me how beneficial a few hours of my time can be to the surrounding community. The service project I feel has impacted me the most is Cast for Kids. The focus of this day is teaching water safety and giving children with disabilities the chance to fish. During the last two years that I have participated in, I have taken pictures of our volunteers and their fishing buddies and helped cook for the luncheon afterward. The smiles on the children’s faces who attend are extremely rewarding and compel me to continue donating my time. As a result of the hours I have donated, I feel I have fulfilled the service category obligations of National Honor
