The four pillars of the National Honor Society is what keeps the organization standing proud and strong. Character is makes a member distinguished from the rest. I have always planned to be respectful, dutiful, and trustworthy in all situations I may come across. Good character will eventually lead to strong leadership which is one of my future goals. I’ve always wanted to be the leader of my own company or organization and by building character, most of the time through service projects, I gain practice to put towards my goal.
The National Honor Society is preeminent for recognizing students with imminent grades and honorable characters, I believe this organization makes a great impact in the community and helps in the overall betterment of the student as well. I would like to be assimilated in these community services to my school and to my community. I have heard how this club makes a person a better leader with a good character and discipline. I have been looking forward to this opportunity since the beginning of High School. To me, NHS’s four pillars are essential elements to being a member of this society.
The National Honor Society is an organization that enables high school students to help and improve their school and neighboring communities. It is an immense honor and privilege to be invited to be a member of this association, and it would be an even greater honor to actively participate and add to the existing society in ACST. Joining the National Honor Society would help me grow as a person and allow me to demonstrate the 4 pillars of NHS, in effect helping our school community and region in general. Leadership and service are both exhibited by all NHS members. This year, I have been starting to become both a silent and appointed leader in class.
Leadership defined is a person who takes initiative to aid others during their every day activities. They makes sacrifices of their time and personal interests for others. I believe I fit this description because I take time out of my day to help the people around me who need it. I help my sister with her English homework. I also help classmates with their English work.
As I have strived for academic excellence, I have acquired traits that are suitable for a member of the National Honor Society. Intelligence is a common quality of members of the National Honor Society, but certain traits of my personality can contribute to National Honor Society such as being adaptable, self-driven, and being goal-oriented. Along with my personality, I will be contributing my talent as a musician and my love and importance of helping others. I will continue to be involved in my community and do as much as I can to contribute. I have learned from taking on the leadership role that patience and determination are essential qualities in a leader.
One of my short-term goals is to maintain my standing in the National Honor Society for my senior year. To keep this honor I must maintain a 3.75 grade point average in high school. This goal will be tough to accomplish considering that I am taking nine hours of concurrent classes each semester at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. It is very difficult to make good grade in college while I am still in high school because of all the extra-curricular activities I am involved in. Most college students have to go to class until noon and then they have the rest of the day to do homework or study.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. The four pillars of National Honor society has shaped me very much so. Because of all the service I do in my community, I have learned to be humble. Leadership has shown me that if you keep as servant’s heart greater things come. My character is known as strong, dependable, trustworthy, caring, and honest. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
There are several different qualities that make up who I am as a person, but there are four that stand out when it comes to being a National Honor Society member. These include character, leadership, scholarship and service. To begin with, I feel that character is an important quality to possess. In school, I have never been written up for violating code or have served a school detention/suspension and I hope not to in the future.
The National Honor Society brings beneficial opportunities to every student, and by being in cabinet I believe I will make full use of this privilege and gain knowledge of leadership essential for my future career. By running for Treasurer, I believe I would be able to utilize my previous experience as Vice President for an environmental club at my old school and introduce a different perspective with new strategies to ensure the success of the NHS. Due to my old position, I am knowledgeable in financial management and have developed organizational skills necessary for the position of Treasurer. Additionally, volunteering is something I greatly value and enjoy, and through the NHS I hope to find different opportunities for success in this field.
In life, achieving goals and ambitions that set a standard for your future self is a monumental factor regarding the pathway led by your passion. For me, my passion is helping others. Every program, organization, and sport that I am involved in has opened doors allowing me to be involved with children and their success; An accomplishment in its own. One of my beloved accomplishments is being selected as a member of the Oak Hill National Honor Society. This opportunity gave me a platform to help children of Hope Haven, a school that works with the young, and adults with special needs.
