I accept this opportunity the National Honor society has granted me with the utmost gratitude. Members of the National Honors society are encouraged to uphold four main traits which are but not limited to scholarship, service, leadership and character. Holding up to these characteristics is crucial to being apart of this organization because they help you succeed in adult life. I believe I have the foundation of theses characteristics, I have pride in my grades and strive to achieve above and beyond what my teachers ask. I find it important to provide my services to my community because it builds surrounding people as well as myself.
The National Honor Society is built upon four founding principles: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. I have a high school life filled with dedication to these four principles on the Spiritual standpoint, the Familial level, the Community level and finally at the National level. Moreover, I did begin my dedication to these same four principles even before this starting with the Boy Scouts of America and this commitment will continue along with having a rich future when I reach my fullest potential. I firmly believe that to have academic excellence is giving your best effort to maintain not just having straight As and a high GPA at or close to the edge of attaining a 4.0, but to also have the skills that help you perform your very best in college and beyond. The National Honor Society is an organization that symbolizes character, scholarship, leadership, and services. I believe I meet all four of these characteristics; however, with the help of this organization, I would like to improve all of these qualities. First of all, I consider my self a very dedicated person. Once I set my mind to something there is no way I will not do it to the best of my abilities. I will commit myself to do my very best at every task that is given to me.
The five pillars of the National Junior Honor Society (scholarship, service, citizenship, leadership, character) have shaped my middle school experience as well as my perspective in life. Scholarship, the first pillar, has significantly affected my time in middle school. To me, scholarship is a dedication to learning, even if it means sacrificing entertainment or pleasure. I think that the discipline of scholarship is something that I should pursue even after school is over because there is no limit to the knowledge you can learn. It has changed my view of my classes and elevated my learning capacities.

A have been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. It has been a true honor to be a part of such a wonderful organization. NHS has taught me many qualities that I use everyday and plan to continue to use through the rest of my life. The National Honor Society (NHS), is defined as an organization established to recognize outstanding students. The organization does not only help you build leadership, but it also helps you build character. Leadership and character are one of the many things that our generation is lacking, and I would be pleased to develop more of it. The organization helps you also with community service, which looks good on college applications. If selected to the National Honor Society, I would contribute to the group by implementing good communication skills, being a leader and reacting when something doesn’t go as expected, and by voicing my opinion when is needed.

Throughout my high school career, I’ve had multiple opportunities to achieve my personal goals and follow a legacy that my parents created when they themselves were in high school. Some parts of this legacy being my mom joining band, which was a driving factor for me to also try an instrument and my dad’s academic excellence that continues to motivate me to this day. Among their accomplishments was one important group that they both were a part of: The National Honors Society. They both really enjoyed the society and it had a positive influence on both of their lives. I would also like to be a part of NHS due to the role it played in my parents’ academic careers/lives, the fact that I could be in an environment where I could help other students, and to gain an edge on college applications.
Being a part of The National Honors Society is something that I’ve strived for ever since hearing about the program a few years ago. This organization does many great things for society, and I would be honored to be apart of it. In order to be a part of this organization, a student must possess qualities which include academics, service, leadership, and character. These are the qualities that I have aimed to show throughout my high school career. I believe that as a member of the National Honors Society, I could improve my life and who I am as a person, along with contributing to the organization.
First and foremost, leaders come in all shapes and forms, there is not one set physical mold for them, but what they all do share are certain characteristics and desires. Leadership in and of itself, is the ability to guide others, take responsibility, and share a vision that inspires and leaves others with a sense of empowerment. Evidently, it takes an exceptional leader to exhibit exceptional leadership skills. Additionally, the most prominent act that all adequate leaders demonstrate is that they are steadily engaged in enhancing their leadership skills. There have been various magnificent leaders throughout history, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Sojourner Truth, Nelson Mandela, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
One indispensable quality of a National Honors Society member is character. A person's character is shown in the way they live their life and is the distinguishing aspect of their personality. Good character is defined by the ways in which someone can take criticism willingly and accepts recommendations for improvements graciously, actively helps to eliminate negative influences in the school environment, and has powers of concentration, self discipline, and sustained attention as shown by perseverance and application to studies. I believe I exhibit these qualities. Being able to accept criticism willingly and take recommendations is a salient part of anyone's character.
I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.

Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.
When I was 14, I saw my remarkable cousin walk across the stage to receive her award for all her years of dedication to be inducted into National Honor Society. She encompassed all the requirements for entrance into the National Honor Society and ever since then, I have had my mindset on following in her footsteps and stepping even farther to conquer the indefinite. As I opened the letter to be invited to apply for membership, I could not even remember the last time my eyes and smile sprouted that immense because to me, being nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. I would be thrilled to join such a society because of the limitless opportunities it would present to me. Joining NHS would allow me to grow as a person and do as much as I can for others.
