National Honor Society Personal Prompt Being selected out of hundreds of students to be a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society is a wonderful privilege of mine; it also portrayed that I achieved great thing in my years of school. Throughout my academic career, I acquired many great traits including honesty, scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I dislike when others lie and I feel if I were to lie, I will never achieve anything good in life. In my years of high school, I am attending the Academy of Sciences and remained in the top one hundred of my class. I have also received first or highest honors with all progress reports. During this year, so far, my lowest grade was a ninety-five. Even with these outstanding academic achievements, I still want to make a difference in the world. Within the last couple of years, I played with a group for The Salvation Army in order to raise money around Christmas time for the less fortunate. I am part of the marching band which is a large commitment, but my participation in all activities done by the band shows my enjoyment and dedication in this co-curricular activity. Due to this, I cannot do the things I want for the community. However, I am working towards getting a job and a car in order to start actions like donating to the animal shelter and helping at nursing homes. I never really tried to achieve a leadership position in the past, due to lack of confidence and shyness, however I did help others when needed. When someone struggled with marching in previous years, I helped them since I, for the most part, know what I am doing when it comes to marching techniques. In addition, I help others in school in classes involving math or science since those subjects are strengths of mine. Also I am the one to provide a shoulder to cry on in times of need, and I usually manage to brighten most people’s
