Introduction: “It’s important to have loyal friends” If your friends are not loyal, stop being friends with them. In this essay I will be comparing the short story “Minnows & Zombies” and the short film “Partly cloudy” In the short story, “Minnows & Zombies,” by Rita Williams Garcia, is about a kid that goes to a swimming summer camp and breaks a record with his friends so the leaders take them to the seven eleven down the street. On the way they pass multiple “zombies” who are just homeless people and the kids are scared and hold close to each other, so the leader named Daisy “protects” them, then they get to the seven eleven and go get the popsicles and leave, the kid looks back and sees Daisy buy a water bottle for a “zombie” and the kid

Part I South Shore University Hospital (SSUH) opened up an emergency short stay unit (ESSU) seven years ago. This unit is a branch of the emergency department that holds patients that are admitted to the hospital before they go to another floor. Due to this unit experiencing so much movement on a regular basis, there is a lot of room for error and strong leadership is needed. With this, the ESSU management team follows a complexity leadership model.
Through the National Student Leadership Conference, I will be marching out of my comfort zone and learning qualities that will aid me in becoming a better leader. In my school there are numerous leadership opportunities, from being class president, to being a house captain, to planning a school wide event.

Introduction For an educational leader a struggling school, such as Maple Shade Middle School, presents a unique opportunity. With the right leadership approach and a well thought out, well executed plan, a poorly performing school can be transformed into a thriving community school that provides positive learning and growth opportunities for all students (Frankl, 2016). As an educational leader tasked with effecting positive change for Maple Shade, I would consider three areas: the challenges and opportunities, the development of a vision for learning to include student performance goals, and the leadership approaches or style that would ensure positive changes in student achievement and outcomes occur. Challenges and Opportunities Maple
In order to transform a school from good to great, you must have an amazing leader. The leader must ensure that s/he follows the universal laws on how to achieve sustainable great results. ISLLC Standard 5 states that, the leader should promote the success of all students by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner, in this case the leader (at the district level) needs to be a responsible leader that engages in professional practice through disciplined thought, disciplined people, disciplined action, and building greatness to last. The district level leader must continuously promote positive change. As the district leader, s/he must ensure that the schools, principals, teachers, and the community is also being open to diversity
Over the past three decades’ educational leadership has been in search of ways to increase student literacy in urban middle schools in the southeast sections of the District of Columbia. The quest to closing achievement gaps in urban school districts have and will always be an on-going issue for educational leadership (Daly & Chrispells, 2008). Findings from research studies suggest that school leadership accounts for fully one quarter of total school effects on pupils, making it second only to classroom instruction among school-based factors affecting student achievement (Leithwood, Louis, Anderson & Wahlstrom, 2004). There are certain challenges that middle school principals face that pertain only to these middle school principals due to
Robin Clark’s Style and Approach to Leadership Robin Clark’s approach and style to leadership was: transformational. According to Black and Porter (2000), this approach motivates other individuals and groups to ignore self-interests and work towards the larger good of the organisation to achieve ‘significant accomplishments’, more than what they would thought possible. Dimensions of this approach includes: demonstrating idealised behaviour, by means of being a role model and encouraging a shared vision, and leading through inspiring visions and intellectual stimulation (Bass, 1990). Robin Clark demonstrates this throughout her work in which she envisioned what an ideal system would look like, wherein she was a pioneer in designing a system for maximum impact in the 1980-1990s (Clark & Burke, 1998). According to Spall (2002), Robin Clark visually equated a system design to a bell shaped curve, in which the group of children, young people and families who fall under the middle of the bell curve would be the centre of and the system should be designed around.
An American president must maintain an image that is usually described as strong, powerful, leader of a free world and commander in chief, among others. Many base a president’s success on whether they were true to these titles during their time in office. One of the most important roles of a president, which seems to encompass all the others, is that of a leader. However, a leader can be viewed as different things and when determining if a president was a successful leader, all aspects of their presidencies are taken into consideration. In American politics, real leadership can be defined as one that “creates the conditions and coalitions for others to step up as well” as described by President Barack Obama (“The president’s definition of leadership”).

13. What makes you a qualified candidate for a values-based leadership program? I believe I am a qualified candidate for this program because I feel as though I posses the qualities of a leader and through this program I feel as though I can make great strides to even further my potential as a leader. As a freshman with at least 3 years of college remaining I feel as though I can only grow as a person and I feel as though horizons is one of the best ways for me to make positive changes around me. Throughout my life and especially in college leadership has grown to be one quality that I view being the most valuable skills that someone can have.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
Throughout my life I have been blessed with more opportunities than many other people my age. This is why I strive to act on all of the opportunities I have been given, while also satisfying my passion for giving back to those who are less fortunate. Firstly, one of the most beneficial events in shaping myself was attending the National Student Leadership Conference. Hundreds of students are chosen annually for their outstanding leadership qualities within their communities. During the one and half week camp, students not only focus on improving their leadership qualities, but also get hands on experience in the field of their choice.
1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time. I consider myself a leader, i believe this because i am the type of person that feels like if i am not the one to do it then it will not be done the right way. Whenever i would work in groups i would designate myself to be the one to do the harder assignment, because i only trusted that would take it serious, not anyone else. Also, whenever i do anything that involves a team, i like to take control, because i feel like i am the best one to work under pressure or i can choose the best solution for any situation.
