In order to transform a school from good to great, you must have an amazing leader. The leader must ensure that s/he follows the universal laws on how to achieve sustainable great results. ISLLC Standard 5 states that, the leader should promote the success of all students by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner, in this case the leader (at the district level) needs to be a responsible leader that engages in professional practice through disciplined thought, disciplined people, disciplined action, and building greatness to last. The district level leader must continuously promote positive change. The leader must have the right people on his/her team (principals, teachers, and community members); specifically, they must be a blend of personal humility and professional will. The team must believe that their leader is not doing this only for him/herself, but instead for the whole team. Their thought must be that they will win in the end, no matter how hard the road is to travel to get there. The leader must emphasize the hedgehog concept: to think about one big idea, one vision, at that time, unlike the fox concept which tries to have way too many goals and interest at one time. The school improvement plan can sometimes fall into this fox category when the team tries to set too many goals and objectives in order to improve the school. Instead, there are three questions the team must focus on: what is our passion, what can we be best at, and what is our economic engine. The leader must take responsibility and keep pushing his/her team until they have made a breakthrough on their one big idea; therefore, the team must know what they are deeply passionate about, what can they be the best at, and what drives them to
