After reading the article "Rethinking our Roots" by Russ Juskalian; it touch many different topics thorough out it. One of these topics was the discovery of Little foot which all began by Ron Clarke, who was looking through mislabeled boxes that were from the 1920 's and 30 's gold rush and found a small human like ankle bone. Which lead to to excavation of the rest of the skeleton. According to Clarke ( Juskalian 2016) about little foot was that it, "was made for walking up straight and it didn 't drags it knuckles(p. 32). The next topic that was discussed was the discovery of Karabo that was discovered by Matthew Berger and how was it was structured.
The Outsiders “Things are rough all over” (Hinton 35). Is what Cherry Valance said to describe both situations of the Greasers and the Socs. The book The Outsiders was a story of a boy named Ponyboy Curtis who had been going through a rough time because his parents had just died in accident. B. Ronald’s topic interests me greatly and is relevant to the plights of the modern Native American education system. His topic expresses that he wants to analyze how Sherman put his own life experiences into the story, and how the education affected him. I think Ronald could be more descriptive with his topic and dive deeper to explain the relevance a bit better. C. The topic of this rhetorical analysis to my understanding was that Sherman was trying to express himself and to show that Native American schools fail to educate children. Unfortunately, I don’t think Ronald expressed this throughout the essay.
Native American themed mascots such as Braves and Warriors should not be used due to the misrepresentation they give of Indians. There are many sports teams and schools that use Native American themed mascots. The use of these Native American mascots have created a lot of controversy among people. One side of the argument centers around the idea that Native American mascots are misrepresented and stereotypical. The other side talks about how Native American themed mascots are used to honor Native Americans.
Childhood barriers growing up and being Native American was growing up poor. Being raised by signal parent and eating foods that are far unhealthy. Food that was prepared or bought were so unhealthy which caused some family members to be overweight. Being poor made it hard for mother to provide proper nutritious foods. Food we eat where either fried, had to much salt, and high in fats.
11:43 PM Hatred is poison - this is one of the major lessons that James Baldwin was trying to get across in his story "Notes of a Native son. " Baldwin's father always had hatred in his heart and no matter what he did, he always seemed angry and mean. He was simply a hateful person. He often lied that he was proud of his blackness, but, in reality, he was mostly humiliated by it. Baldwin's father even struggled to make friends.
Life as a Native American sucks. I realized this when I was a little kid. I’ve come to accept that what other people label or describes us as are true. I’m not happy to admit this they are right. My people don’t do anything to prove these people’s claims, or better known as stereotypes, about Native Americans wrong.
