After reading the novel Twisted, written by Laurie Halse Anderson, I have become more aware of how different emotions and attitudes that people have can positively or negatively affect how they’re viewed by society. Furthermore, an individual’s attitudes and actions can also change their perspective of the world and the quality of their life. Early on in the book, we are introduced to the main character Tyler, who is an emotional, unpopular, and insecure seventeen year old senior who is hoping for things to change. Throughout the story, we follow his emotional rollercoaster filled with his thrilling highs and devastating lows. After researching astrology signs and their true meanings about specific traits, I have decided that Tyler fits within the Cancer symbol.

The Chinese zodiac of twelve animal signs is said to represent twelve different types of personality. It is based on cycles of years, lunar months, and two-hour periods of the day . The zodiac traditionally begins with the sign of the Rat, and the cycle proceeds through 11 other animals signs: the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Duck. Complex systems of predicting fate and destiny based on one's birthday, birth season, and birth hours, such as ziping and Zi Wei Dou Shu are still used regularly in modern-day Chinese astrology. Apparently the time you are born predetermines your personality with a corresponding zodiac sign. If this is true, then why are there people who do not fit within the characteristics of the sign, or like Grendel have characteristics from all signs? In the his novel, Grendel, John Gardner incorporates each chapter of the book with a distinct astrological sign, to display the growth and withdraw in Grendel's philosophical development. The different zodiacs in each chapter are parallel to Grendel’s spiritual evolution, constantly seeking to understand the world around him and himself. Through the chapters of the book, it can be seen that all zodiac animals are interdependent of each other, and this tears Grendel apart emotionally.
It is important to remain realistic in a relationship. It is easy to get lost in the ideas created by our peers and media of how a romance should be. We learn that it is possible to find somebody you are exactly compatible with, that it is possible to find a perfect match in which there will be no compromise, nor errors within your relationship. The idea we have in this age of relationships is altered and unsupported, and it can lead to a cruel awakening when we find ourselves in our own relationships. In Romeo and Juliet, we see at first the tainted image of love that we find ourselves pining after, they immediately fell in love and they were willing to ignore every resisting variable plagued on their relationship.
Sagittarius is self-confident and high-spirited. I think Moshe the Beatle is a Sagittarius because he taught Eliezer about religion and he valued the knowledge he gave him. When they took him to the concentration camps and he returned, he was confident about what he knew and was saying even though everyone thought he was

An astrology sign is a sign that you have depending on when you were born. For example, someone who is a Pisces was born between February 19 to March 20. Although the author of Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson, didn’t tell us when each character was born, I assumed which astrology sign they were due to their characteristics. After researching each astrology sign, I found information about the likes and dislikes of each sign. This helped me make a decision of which sign I felt fit each character.
