Suzanne Britt’s essay “Neat People vs Sloppy People” makes the incredulous claim that neat people are inferior to slobs.For my part, however,I disagree with this claim. In my experience, sloppy people are those that are inferior. They are a dirty,unkempt, slovenly, forgetful sort, that neither recognize, nor attempt to remedy, their foolish and often self destructive behavior. I believe that neat people are better than sloppy people because they are more organized and focused,therefore having a tendency to lead more successful lives. Frankly, neat people are more organized. They just are. It's in their blood to be that way. Without the added distraction or weight of “collections”, neat people can set to work on useful tasks that benefit society. They do not become entangled in cobwebs of interesting, yet non specific or even useless information. In general, people who choose a neat and organized lifestyle tend to be more concise and decisive, being free from the distractions others may face. Unorganized thought processes, as well as visually distracting physical objects are responsible for much of the distraction caused while one is trying to complete a task, and can even be damaging to one’s work ethic. For example; while working on a project, a “messy” person will most likely become distracted, lose focus, and ultimately face difficulties when it comes to meeting their project’s deadline. On the other hand, a more organized person will see only the task at hand, focus on their goal, and complete all necessary tasks in an efficient manner. The key to focus is lack of distraction, which is in short a quality only organized individuals
