Many kids, teenagers, and adults in the United States play football. Whether or not it is a pee-wee game or an NFL game there are many effects on the health triangle. Football affects the physical side, social side, and the mental/emotional side. This is a concern because there are some negative effects on people’s health but is of importance because many people play football. To begin, there are both positive and negative effects on a person’s physical health. One way that it’s a positive, is that it gets people in shape. Football players have to be fast and strong so by lifting weights and running it would get a person in shape. Another way is that some football players have dieticians to put them on a diet that fits their physical needs. Although there are strong positives, there are many negatives as well. Football obviously, is exercise and exercise reduces stress. If a player is stressed out about anything they can always count on football to take their mind off of it. Another positive effect of the mental/emotional side of the triangle, is that it boosts self confidence and motivation. People want to do well in their sports so they push themselves to do the best of their ability, A negative effect is that although it takes away stress, it also may be adding some by placing too much emphasis on winning. Another negative effect is that studies have proven that football leads to excessive aggression and an unhealthy perception of competition. Overall, football has many positives and negatives on the health triangle. Some people think that the positives outweigh the risk or the other way around but it is just a personal preference.
