Do you know who Neil Armstrong is? Neils childhood experiences made him interested in planes. This led to his many accomplishments such as being the first man to landi on the moon. Neil Armstrong is remembered today because of who he was and because of his childhood and what he could do for the military and because he landed on the moon.

Neil was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5, 1930. After serving in the Korean War, Neil had then went to finish college. Neil had then joined NASA a little while later and became a Pilot, Engineer and Astronaut. Neil had later joined the Astronaut Program in 1962 and was command pilot for his first mission, Gemini VIII, in 1966. Neil latter became the spacecraft commander for the Apollo 11, and on that mission he became the first man to walk on the moon. When Neil was growing up, He had went in a tri motor plane with his father and that is when his true dream took form. Neil was also a great navy pilot who flew on 78 missions in the Korean War. Throughout his navy services he had flown 78 combat missions during the War. Neil had his fair share of the military and in 1952 had left the service to return to College. A couple years later Neil had joined the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics also known as NACAA, which later became the National Aeronautics and Space Administration also known as NASA. At this company Neil worked in many different areas of his expertise, one of these areas was a test pilot. Neil Also worked as an Engineer Neil got to flight many different groundbreaking airplanes one of theses planes was called the x-15 which had a top speed of 4000mph.
