Armstrong’s astounding musical abilities had lasting effects on many jazz musicians that followed him, including Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and even Bing Crosby (Biography.com Editors). In 1922, he joined King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band (redhotjazz.com). The experiences that he had in this band would later help to prepare him for tours, performances, and collaborations with other famous jazz artists. Many years later, in 1935, Armstrong hired Joe Glaser to be his manager. Glaser would, in fact, be his manager up until his death in 1969.
