The us wanted the Nez perce tribe to sign a treaty, when the Nez Perce didn’t sign the treaty and so the us government forced them to sign the treaty and then the us turned around and didn’t follow the treaties rules.No the us wasn’t justified in their actions leading up to and during the Nez Perce war. After the native americans signed the treaties the us government the the natives land. According to uidaho.edu the wallowa band didn’t want to take part in signing a treaty that would eliminate their ancestral homeland from newly reduced Nez Perce reservations. The wallowa band never wanted to sign the treaty, because of reduced Nez Perce reservations on the land. But the settlers came to bring peace to the indians by having them sign a treaty. …show more content…

According to History. net Joseph was assured that the Nez Perce would be permitted to return to a remnant of their home country in Oregon. The indians wanted to go home in Oregon and live there until they die. The settlers never meant to start a war with the Nez Perce. The settlers wanted to just do revenge on the indians. The settlers wanted to get back at the indians for what they did. The settlers let some of the indians go to Lapwai reservations and the others go to Colville reservations. Therefore the indians were just upset at the settlers for taking their land. The settlers made the indians surrender. According to History.net Joseph says “My heart is sick and sad from where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.” The indians surrendered to the settlers and so the settlers stopped shooting at them. The settlers attacked the indians because the indians attacked the settlers. The indians went to the settler’s town and killed 3 of the settlers. The indians were mad at the settlers so they went and killed 3 settlers. Therefor the indians were still mad and wanted revenge on the settlers. Therefore the us wasn’t justified in their actions leading up to or during the Nez Perce war. Because they were just going around and chasing the Nez Perce tribe and killing the Nez perce tribe and making the tribe sign
