Hello Stephanie, I also found this to be the most interesting part of episode two from the DVD series titled, “How Art Made the World,” by Nigel Spivey. It is sort of mind boggling how people in past centuries depicted death. As example, the hair standing up and the legs crossed on both subjects (the human figure and the animal) were a symbol or meaning of death (Spivey, Episode 2). I wonder why they created hooves and antlers on the human figures. Was it a symbol of the two being connected spiritually? There are so many questions I would’ve enjoyed asking! While watching the video, Dr. D explains that the people engaging in these rituals may have been experiencing hallucinations which led them to create the dots on their artwork. It’s hard
