“I believe” are words that have been said by thousands of FFA members. Those words are what the FFA program has been based on for 85 years. FFA is an organization that teaches students about life through Agricultural Education. FFA is an organization set out to change the world through many skills teaching students that you can succeed through hard work and dedication. This is why the history of FFA has had an impact on our country. According to the National FFA Organization's website FFA began in 1929 in Kansas City Missouri. When a man by the name of Walter S. Newman came up with the idea for this organization the Future Farmers of Virginia Henry Groseclose another founder, started drafting the first Constitution and Bylaws for the organization (“FFA History”). The colors gold and blue wear approved in 1929 and have been our colors ever since (“FFA History”). National blue and corn gold. The National blue is a symbol of the blue fields of our nation's flag and the Corn Gold for the golden fields of ripened corn (“FFA student Handbook” 30). Each piece of the emblem has a meaning for something from the cross section of the corn to the owl on the plow. The cross section of corn stands for unity from the first thanksgiving and the crop at the foundation of American Agriculture. The rising sun stands for progress in Agriculture. The plow stands for the “Labor and Tillage of the soil” (“FFA student Handbook”31 ) and the start of our country. The eagle stands for Freedom as FFA members know to look for new ways in the future.
