No Child Left Behind is a very contradicting topic, it means that any student can make it through school whether they struggle to pass a grade or not. There is a benefit in that all students have a chance to complete basic education, in that making the total population smarter overall. But it also means for students that excel in their education are getting rewarded the same as students that are not. Yes, I believe there is a benefit to No Child Left Behind, but I also think that there is some unfairness.
Allowing students to complete a grade regardless of failure means that the students are not obligated to try as hard, knowing that they will for a fact move up. They can also be placed in jobs where further education is not necessary, and be successful adults. These students can learn in smaller capacity classrooms meaning less distractions, they have teachers trained specifically to their needs, and their understandings in order to learn. Although these students require a different environment and stimulus but they are still considered in the education industry, and that is the benefit of No Child Left Behind.
There is a purpose of No Child Left Behind, and the intentions are great. But I do not think that it was executed properly because of the fact that it does not train the students that do not need it to work for what they want. Giving students no reason to work in order to surpass the previous grade can create laziness and ignorance, and in turn will make a less hardworking generation.
