The brain is a complex organism to understand. It can get damaged over time by having to go through stressful situations such as war. As it gets damaged changes the way the brain works and functions.The kids in this story to pushed to the end of their limits, and we see witch ones break and give into the bad and which ones can make it.In Lord of the flies William Golding uses the island as an allegory of the human brain with the superego,ego,and id.
The brain has a super ego which is like the angel on shoulder or mom telling you right from wrong. In Lord of the flies the super ego is Piggy, he's responsible and knows that certain things should be done before enjoying himself and hanging out with the others . Piggy represents the adult like figure on the island,and when it's the first time going into war, your pure and innocent and you make smart decisions. When Piggy first got there he knew what to do right away “ I expect we'll want to know all their names.. and make a list ,we ought to have a meeting”( Golding,12). The ego in this book is Ralph, he knows he should keep everything under control, but he can't help himself all he wants to do is fit in and have fun with the hunters.
