In world literature it has become normal for people to take a famous story and present it in a different way. A story or epic poem could be retold in the forms ranging from a play, movie, or even a comic book. By retelling the story in different ways, it can helps spread the story to people who wouldn’t have heard it in its original form. Noah and the Ark is a narrative found in the Hebrew Bible found in the book Genesis chapters 5-10. Recently, in 2014, Hollywood decided to remake the story in the form of a movie called Noah. By comparing the two different forms of the same story we can find what parts of the story are authentic or different, the quality of the retelling, and then make a choice of which telling is the best. Being quite familiar with the story of Noah in Genesis, I was really excited to watch the movie. Unfortunately, the retelling was far from the authentic version of the literary work. The director of the retelling was, Darren Aronofsky who was an atheist. Since Noah is a Biblical story, it is view as Holy Scripture, being seen as perfect and true by the followers of Christ. In the genre drama, fantasy, and adventure films, the movie in the eyes of critics could be positive. In these genres of films the over coming of evil makes a quality work. The movie Noah does do a great job at showing good overcome evil. The critics would also think the retelling was quality work because of the famous cast chosen to play the roles of the characters. In the world of film, the better the cast, the better the movie should be. Audience members who do not know the original telling of the story would think the movie is incredible.
