The Noctiluca scintilla’s is commonly known as a sea sparkle. It is a bubble- like
Phytoplankton. When disturbed, they have a tendency to excrete a blueish glow which many humans seem to believe they saw a “ghostly glow”. Noctiluca scintilla are not toxic or dangerous although, they feed a lot off phytoplankton, and collect and emit a high amount of ammonia which can kill other aquatic life.
N. scintilla are found all over the world and inhabit places with a lot of sunlight which stimulates growth of phytoplankton. Usually around the coast and marine habitat.
