The article, “Of Primates and Personhood: Will According Rights and “Dignity” to Nonhuman Organisms Halt Research?” by Ed Yong is trying to convince the reader to see a different side to primates. The Great Ape Project set legal rights for chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, and orangutan. United Kingdom and New Zealand protect great apes from experimentation. For the Great Ape Project they are basically setting laws and higher standards for primates to me experimented on or held captive.
It is first developed when you’re young by mostly parents, teacher, and even friends. Having their own experiences is what makes and determines what kind of mindsets they have. This compares to what J. K. Campbell quotes in the book. Kids, in this case known as “Young shepherds” is where they develop their own self. In the book, having their own quarrel as a kid is what set’s their reputation and future characteristics.

These animals are very alike but they are also very different. Chimpanzees and baboons look nothing alike, so they don 't have any common traits.
This is where the child should learn to have respect for themselves and others, develop the skills socially meaning to interact with the other children and learn their different emotions and how to deal with this which is the emotional part. A child will learn to develop their own personality and opinions but this also needs to be monitored to ensure there is no bullying towards the other children, also parents have major roles in teaching their children. Some parents however, can be over-protective and can delay the child’s development and learning but on an alternative, parents can also see no wrong with their child which can lead to too much confidence and higher risk of behaviour problems. Culture play roles in learning as some cultures do not allow certain things to be taught due to there religion e.g. food tasting and preparation.
Everyone is raised differently from the minute they are born. These differences range from small to extreme actions. There are little things like learning how to read or bigger things like being raised to believe in a higher power. Some children are disciplined by word or with a physical action. Everything varies from the very start.
Humans have been examining and studying non-human primates for ages in an attempt to further understand the reasoning behind human behavior and base instinct. While it would be ideal to study non-human primates in the wild, away from possible interference from human civilization, that is often not the case, especially for students, and in this case the non-human primates have been observed within captivity. Specifically, the species observed were the Tufted Capuchin monkey (Cebus apella) and the common squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus) at the Living Links to Human Evolution Research Centre in Edinburgh Zoo. Climate change had a very large hand in the evolution of non primate evolution. Many factors that were changed as the worlds climate changed influenced the development of primates. The change in topography in certain regions changed the types of foods that were available in those regions, which in turn could kill of species that only eat one food group such as fruit. If the climate becomes colder than the fruit could not grow ideally, and therefore primates who ate fruit as there primary source of nutrients would either have to find another food group to adapt to or face extinction. The largest change is obviously one of change in terrain.

The illegal hunting and trade of primate meat is a large contributing factor to the decline of primate species in the tropics. This, in addition to habitat loss and fragmentation, disease, and the pet trade, is putting many primate species at high risk of extinction. Poverty, population growth, construction of roads, emergence of regional and international markets, and new hunting technology are triggering the increased hunting pressure on forest mammals. Primate species are especially vulnerable to increased hunting pressure because of their slower reproductive cycles. The decline of primate species must be stopped to avoid their extinction and the potential consequences that this could have for tropical forests.
A child learns when they are young from those around them. They don’t automatically know what
