Demographics Modern day Kittitas County is most famous for the Ellensburg Rodeo and Kittitas County Fair, which began in 1885. Competitors and rodeo enthusiasts travel from all corners of Washington State to watch the show (Kittitas County History, 2017). The area remains dedicated to agriculture with a large farming community and continues to be known for lush hay and roaming cattle. Today, hay production nets more than $50 million annually for Kittitas County farmers.
On February 26, 1972 the Buffalo creek community was destroyed by a terrible flood. The flood caused many tears, pain and death. In the blink of an eye, people’s lives completely changed; lives were lost, houses were gone and families were destroyed. Buffalo Creek is one of the mountain hollows in West Virginia on the edge of the Appalachians, near the Guyandotte River. The land used to grow warm green grass, but overtime the land became a dark place with debris from mine operation spills.
October 13 from 5-8 is the Chick Fil A Booster Event (Division of Student Affairs Beat Auburn Beat Hunger). All proceeds will go towards BABH. When I asked Charland what she was most excited for this year her eyes grew wide with excitement. Beat Auburn Beat Hunger is partnering with the Athletic Department this year.
In most community centers they usually take donations for items needed for the organization or do some type of fundraiser that would help bring in a profit. Reference:
Stroller Warriors was originally created at Lejeune in 2010, but has grown to over 28 chapters in the last five years. In that time, many of the chapters have raised thousands of dollars for charitable activities such as Active Heros, Soles 4 Souls, and Dare to Tri, an organization that helps individuals with physical disabilities participate
Melvin Amore, Zulu Social Aid, and Pleasure Club assistant financial secretary, donated time and money to schools and charities throughout its 99-year history (Maloney 1). Orpheus organization focuses on improving education and Zulu debutantes get college scholarships while members volunteer and serve as role models within the community. “Muses Community Involvement Committee, said her krewe donates a free ride to an honorary Muse and $5,000 to her charity of choice each year” (Maloney 1). Krewes are doing good in the community and actually care about Mardi Gras and the happiness it brings to everyone. This is a credible and reliable source because the passage came from a recommended database.
My mother has worked for Children’s Mercy for nine years, and it has been a huge blessing to hear about all of the wonderful things that Children’s Mercy does for our community. As a result of Children’s Mercy being a not for profit hospital, their funding must come from sources outside of their patients. One of the biggest fundraisers that Children’s Mercy conducts is called The Big
The volunteers are similar to the volunteers I work with every day at City Year. Everyone comes from different states and different cultures, but we are all share the same purpose. That purpose is to bridge the gap in the education
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
There we cheered on the participants, and help keep track of times. I always enjoy caroling to the people at the rest homes and watching their faces light up as we sing little jingles through the halls. I also volunteer to be a mass server at St. John’s in Glandorf. Volunteering gives me a chance to give back to my community and school and to help make a
Charites like these are charitable and voluntary organisations. They provide many ways for people to get involved and for people to help them like marathons, cupcake sales, making campaigns for them and more. For my client group (infancy) Cancer research, would fund the family by giving them grants for lower income families with disabled children. The aim for them is to basically make life easier and more pleasant for the infant. They do so by helping to fund for things like: holidays, washing machines, computers and hospital visiting costs, anything to make them more cheerful.
Another activity we have been involved in is volunteering at the annual Bauer Farm Harvest Festival, which led me to another service organization I have been involved
Not only do these clubs recognize academic excellence, they also provide many opportunities for community service. Blood drives, food drives and Operation Christmas Child are only a few of the projects that we participate in throughout the year. I am
On Wednesday, the 18th of May, I attended and participated in the Final Band Concert of the year. Throughout the year, all band students continually practice pieces and the Final Band Concert is the only concert to have every band student in it from fifth grade all the way up to twelfth. This concert is always very special because it is both the first large concert for the fifth graders and the last for many students. The concert started from the Fifth Grade Band, then to the Junior 6th Grade, Advanced 7th and 8th Grade band, and finally to the High School Concert Band. The concert began exactly on time at 19:00.
I was the Student Director of the Teen Advisory Council, which serves as the youth executive board for the Ronald House. Throughout the entire year we planned a bowling fundraiser called, Spare Some Love. At this event we bring together families staying at the house with individuals within the community. Through gaining sponsors and raffling off donated baskets we were able to raise $28,000 for the house. I take special pride in this event because it combines multiple aspects of giving back.
