Non-profit organizations serve as the community’s special role to be resourceful, groundbreaking, and contribute to the advancement to all that it serves. However, non-profits have become an advantage whether directly or indirectly, from a number of resources including levels of government, for profit organizations, and several organized and unorganized special interests. This particular council is comprised of eight different agencies that represent different government sectors. The largest agency within the council is composed of hundreds of clients, but the management could use some assistance. We all know that everyone has a different, unique style of management. Some problems and situations are put on the back burner for so long that sometimes decision are made just to get rid of the issue. The decision process is individually driven, since the different programs are ran by one individual. The organization as a whole is hierarchical; the executive director is over all of the 8 individual agencies, then there is one manager over each of the individual agency. The agency has no internal language, the communication level is so poor, and nothing is understood from management. When it comes to performance, the most valued element is getting the client what they need and document how you completed the task. Work-life balance is low due to the fact that there is only one person working the program, that one person is responsible for everything. If a worker took off for the day, the manager would call that worker and ask questions about clients. Workers were often afraid to ask for a day off, even if they were sick or had a sick family member that required care. That worker would still be bombarded with when they returned. This darkened the mood of the organization because no one else was trained to do anyone else’s job, not even the manager. The common stories that are told are the manager really did not want to take the position, but it was offered to her because someone knew her. They understand the need of the client and ask probing questions to see what else the client possibly needs. So, the right person can quickly assist. Secondly, this agency is staffed by knowledgeable employees who take the time to stay updated with governmental and policy changes. In any public agency, change can happen at any time, this agency gains more strength because employees are quick to adapt to this changing world, which in turn all the latest and up to date information can be relayed over to the needy client. In non-profit agencies there will be much work for one person. The leader of the program is within the agency is responsible for marketing the program by designing flyers, ordering the programs trinkets (pens, notepads, etc.) and making sure that the worker advertises the agency and programs by passing these items out a t health fairs, senior centers, and in the mail. The program can weakened by this because it’s so much work on one person that something would get left undone. Another weakness of the program would be the amount of time spent driving, trying to cover and be seen in the region. Time often catches up with the worker. Although the agency supplied the worker with a “portable office” they were not permitted to catch up on their work outside of the office. The manager threatened the worker with a write-up if they took the work
