I have learned a great deal of information from this class through the readings, class, class assignments, classmates, and my professor. Overall, I have gained an knowledge of Nonprofit Management. “Historically, the primary distinguishing characteristic of the nonprofit sector is that it is mission-and -value –driven. Nonprofit organizations exist to accomplish some social good, however that may be defined (Gingerich, pg. 16). This is refreshing since the community has some many needs to be met. The readings have helped me gain a deeper understanding of this.

Ketter et al. (2008) explains the importance of thinking through social problems that need addressed and understanding the mistake that have been made in the past with defining them. This notion can be applied to a variety of accepts of life, not just in management.
Steele states that there is “The reality for person A, the reality for person B, and finally and importantly, a shared reality of A and B” (Steele, pg 24, page 6 of PDF). This can develop empathy and be helpful to know when dealing with social issues as well as ethics. There are ethical issues in management as well as with conducting your research. Steele mentions that before your research begins, you need to have an understanding of the dynamic of what you are studying in order to help identify any problems that could occur (Steele, 1999, p. 199). Working on the Board of Directors section of my paper has helped me gain practice in what it is like to make these type of decisions for a company. The group work has also helped me learn from other students. How they approach work and their knowledge that contribute to the assignments. The course work, classmate, and the professor have broadened my knowledge of nonprofits and helped me gain a deeper knowledge of the skills required for running a
