Today, the Korean Peninsula is one of the most heavily militarized regions in the world. The role of United States foreign policy with North Korea has been critical to maintaining peace, and preventing another war from breaking out between the two Koreas. To investigate this topic I will use Gale Online Resource database to research the Korean War and how it has affected the United States foreign relations with North Korea. I will also be using JSTOR to find scholarly journals to answer the question stated above. While I use Gale and JSTOR for detailed information, I will be using ABC Clio for background information. The United States was the main force in dealing with North Korea’s nuclear program, and that United States foreign relation affected policies between the United States and North Korea . The United States and political allies claim that foreign military involvement in South Korea is needed due to the nuclear threat present within North Korea . North Korean goal is to normalize United States relations with North Korea. This means that the United States should return the Korean Peninsula to the way it was. This is a problem however with the South Koreans. This would raise questions among South Korea about their relations with the United States. Meaning that South Korea would feel a sense of US abandonment, and too would mean the United States would lose long-term influence in the region. This is a problem for the United States because the control over the Korean peninsula is of strategic importance. It constitutes a strategic crossroad of Northeast Asia. Schirmer and published in 1994. Daniel B. Schirmer was an activist author, scholar, and historian. This article is a section of the Monthly review, a socialist magazine. The article covers the Cold War side to the Korean War and the relationship between the United States and North Korea. This article is a valuable source because it provides a different point of view on the relationship between the United States and North Korea. The author of both articles are also very different on how they approach the relationship between North Korea and the U.S. This is important because a different view on the outlook may help a reader to develop a more accurate answer to a question. Another value is that the author is a scholar and historian meaning that the information and facts that are provided are fairly accurate. This accuracy is important to the credibility of the article and how much a reader can trust the information. A limitation of this article is that Schirmer was a socialist and so bias may be present throughout the article. This is important because biasness can affect the diction and choice of information to present to a reader. Another limitation of this article is the amount of complex vocabulary which would make it hard for the reader to analyze. This might deter some readers if they lack the background knowledge to understand what is happening throughout
