Critical thinking is a high level of cognitive skills that helps us communicate and understand things effectively. In the You Tube video "Stossel Testing Therapeutic Touch," I found it was really interesting how the participants were given a placebo and yet most of them felt all these beneficial sleep changes. The power of the mind is amazing because if you believe it will work most likely you will feel that it did. My mother has all these crazy beliefs and I recall when I was bout 8 years old a bee stung me on my hand. I was crying and my mom told me if I wanted to get rid of the pain I had to get a pregnant woman to rub sugar on the wound.
Critical thinking is relevant in a few different aspects of life. For example, critical thinking can be applied to school and learning. There are people who support using different aspects of critical thinking in students curriculum. Laura Hummell said, "Critical thinking skill development is crucial in elementary schools. Students who are allowed to explore, empathize, question, hypothesize, conceptualize, experiment, and evaluate throughout their own learning become productive community members" (Hummell 5).

Currently, I work at a local hospital in the Emergency Department. So, triaging patients is something I do on a regular basis. Present day we just take it one day at a time and try our best.
The article pointed to the several researches defining critical thinking skills. If I was taught 20 years ago what I know now. I am sure I would have been more prepared with the knowledge and skills of framing my mind to the critical thinking skills. Putting the skills and knowledge and applying them to my younger life. Critical thinking is the idea of analyzing, evaluating and rationalizing issues, concepts, problems, and purpose. We all need to critical thinking whenever we are reading, watching and listening to things, it is a vital skill for students, employees, citizens and everyone really. In college you develop critical thinking skills because, many theories and ideas are presented, and you are made think about these theories and ideas, it allows are to agree or disagree with them, which shows that you are becoming a critical thinking. How being a strong critical thinker helps us, is we can link different bits of information together to get a better understanding of the topic, you are researching about.
