The previous weeks of class have provided insight into nursing health informatics and how to ethically use social media. Health informatics refers to the collaboration of technology and healthcare in hopes of improving client experience while ethically using social media involves acting professionally and respecting one’s own and other’s privacy online (COACH, 2013) (International Nurse Regulator Collaborative, 2014). I believe both concepts explored in class are extremely significant to myself as a student nurse and thereby must be explored separately and together.

I am convinced this will not be the situation for myself as informatics is all I know. I am apart of the generation that grew up with complex technology and find learning how to maneuver new devices and computing programs quite easy. At this stage in my life, I use much of this technology to access various journal articles for school or see how my out-of-town friends are doing through the use of social media. Moreover, I find social media to be a main source of connection used by many nursing students, including myself.
