Nursing has become a very dynamic role as it is constantly changing and evolving. The number of people entering the nursing field continues to increase. There is something profoundly disturbing about learning that I have consistently underestimated the extent to which suicide will be part of my professional experience in the mental health field. The fact that twenty-five percent of all providers will be effected by the loss of a client in this manner is both terrifying and humbling for someone whose personal life has been touched by suicide. At the beginning of my education in psychology, I remember the fundamental information disseminated about people with addiction disorders was that they were statistically more likely to attempt suicide than other populations. This fact was expressed in a cool, dismissive and clinical manner that invited neither contemplation nor discussion. To me, the insinuation had always seemed to be that if one made wise career choices, the “suicidal client” might somehow remain relegated to mental health mythology and not part of one’s professional reality.
My client has come a long way from her first counseling session. I think she is motivated to make changes because she believes she can. Also, staying active has helped her to live a healthy and happier life, which also helps to keep her mentally aligned. There are two changes I would like to make in the last two counseling sessions. I have been working in the nursing home for three years now, and I have seen technological changes over the years. At first, we were using an old kiosking system to document activities of daily living (ADLs), intake and output (I&Os), vital signs (VS), and restorative nursing, while utilizing the paper MAR for medication administration and paper patients’ charts. We write our nurses’ notes in the paper chart. Our residents had been using call bells to notify staff whenever they need something. We also used an old bed alarm system, which was loud once a resident is out of bed.

Firstly, it was difficult to recruit a group of hearing-impaired individuals as they were comparatively less active in social activities.
