Ambulatory care settings are often the first places where patients discover why patient’s chose Bellin. Bellin has illuminated my professional career, advocating for patients and families within my current ambulatory setting position, as evidence in finding a personal passion in supporting a pilot refill team as the lead registered nurse coordinator was on maternity leave. This previous experience has given me the insight to further challenge myself. Professional development has expanded not only myself in my career professionally, as well as educationally in working toward my masters within nursing, but through involvement as now a committee member of the advancement team. In completing three advancement program cycles as a participant, signifies how increased awareness can be expanded further into ambulatory settings as a number of extravagant opportunities for professional career advancements.
My experience and education has given me an immense amount of knowledge and skills such as nursing practices, patient and family care, and communication and leadership skills to make me a valuable team member and an excellent choice for the Neonatal RN position.
Developing this independence and confidence in this new role will continue to be a challenge for me as a new nurse practitioner. Transitioning into a provider role with increased autonomy will stretch my comfort zone and pose a new set of challenges. It is my goal to practice in an environment that is highly collaborative with strong relationships with other providers. I believe this environment will further build my abilities and challenge me to continue to grow professionally. This collaborative environment also fosters a culture among providers of continual improvement and leads to improved patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.
I am interested in your New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston and recently obtained my MA RN license in August 2015. I choose to be an RN because I love learning about the anatomy and physiology of the human body and working with people. When I was a little girl, I would watch the Discovery Health channel instead of watching cartoons. In high school, I became interested in social justice work when I did a month long volunteer service trip to India.

Each morning patients came in for assessment and the treatment team developed or altered existing treatment protocols. I longed to be part of this team, working to stabilize each patient so they could return home to pursue their goals. The nurses stood out to me as the team members at ground zero in the unit, working directly with patients, and advocating for them in meetings. As a Nurse Practitioner, I will provide this same standard of holistic care to my patients, taking into consideration their biological, social, psychological and cultural needs while developing and implementing treatment decisions.
Whether it was from going on mission trips and working alongside my peers to help rebuild a community or performing and competing as a dancer, being a part of a team is something that I have always been very comfortable with. In 7th grade I found a new team that I would since aspire to be a part of. I became utterly fascinated with the medical field and all it had to offer because as a young teen I spent a lot of time as a patient in and out of the hospital and saw many providers from different specialties. I loved seeing the way in which different members of a healthcare team worked together for my benefit. While being the patient may have initiated my infatuation with the field, I knew that one day I had to be on the other side.
The strong Lutheran foundation at Valparaiso University that prepares students to lead and serve in the community. In addition to the church, and society offers me the opportunity to pursue a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. The university's foundation and family-centered focus make it a great place for work-study. Although no one ever suggested that my journey to become a Registered Nurse would turn out to be a faith-based journey, I transitioned from Medical Assistant to Registered Nurse in 2017. I enrolled in an LPN program with only 12 weeks until graduation, but the school closed with no further information.
The personal care that I am able to give to a resident is rewarding. Knowing you have helped someone is a grand thing. As a registered nurse it appears that most of the time is spent charting medical records, dealing with way too many headaches, and passing medication. Sarah has worked in other medical settings prior to coming to a care facility and stated that so much burden and liability is placed on nurses especially in hospitals. I am in my third year of nursing and I am currently working in a hospital on an Orthopedic Neurological Trauma Unit. Nursing is a most trusted and gratifying profession. As a nurse educator, I will express my passion for teaching by incorporating features such as clinical assessments, practical application of theory, evaluation, and role modeling into advanced nursing practice, from previous experiences and current experience and clinical practicum to find success and gratification in students chosen profession as well empowering leaners to develop their own strengths, beliefs, and personal attributes to become a good professional. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to make a difference and help anyone in need that I possibly could. From the start of my childhood, I can recall helping my mother care for my great grandparents, so they would be able to live out the rest of their lives from their home, instead of in a nursing home. As a young child it was extremely difficult to live with and watch my loved ones deteriorate as they got older, as their condition got worse and worse, and saw my mother having a difficult time keeping up with caring for both of my great grandparents 24/7, it put a lot of stress on the family.
