There are many positions that I can uphold in the field of Registered Nursing such as, Travel Nurse, labor and delivery, surgical nurse, and the list can go on. To hold a position as a Nurse one must have many personal and professional traits. Some of my professional traits that I have would I am well organized, hardworking, and a team player; which I feel all of those characteristics should be held by a nurse. Some personal traits of mine would be that I am loving, caring, strong willed, people person, and outgoing. All of the traits that I listed personal and professional will impress my future employers. I was not organized my whole life but once I became a mom I realized that being organized was a must. I could not just put things where I wanted because my little one would be into everything so I have to keep things clean and in order, which is a must in nursing. I also was a waitress at a retirement home and that’s where I learned to become a team player. If I did not ask for help when needed especially if I did not know something or when it became very busy I would get extremely stressed out. That is where I come to find out why being a team player is so important; to keep the stress down for me and my fellow employees. Personality wise if one does not possess the traits of being loving or caring then nursing is not the field that one should be working in. While I was searching for a job in my career field on Monster, I found one that caught my eye, “Resident Care Director (Registered Nurse/RN)” (Sunrise Senior Living, 2015). Under Job requirements it listed all of the things that the future employer should possess and organization was one of the requirements along with managing time effectively (Sunrise Senior Living, 2015, para. 5).
