As obesity has become a significant problem in the U.S., along with the increase in related diseases, the public begins to think about their diet. With wealth of information available today, the citizens in the U.S. are given the information they need to make well-founded dietary choices. Getting experience from their friends on social media, referencing guidelines from government websites, learning more about nutrition facts from food labels and following advises of healthy magazines are the sources of information that guide healthy choices of the U.S. citizens.
People can get useful information about effective and healthy diets from their friends’ experience. Because of strict situation of obesity, losing weight is becoming a trend. When people decide to lose weight, most of them will share their experience on social media, so it is easy for U.S. people to receive information about diet of losing weight. The author of “Against the Grains” loses close to seven kilos by go against grains because she gets information from her friend that “going wheat-free helped her friend lose weight and feel more energetic” (Moyer 1). It gives people many advices for eating, like which kind of food people should eat more and what are calcium-rich foods. Furthermore, there is a website of health government.
