That directly translated into Mystic Insignia of a Klansman. The KKK symbol was a Red, Black, and white cross. KKK’s background of the symbol was a red circle then a cross on top and a red blood drop in the middle. The blood drop in the middle is to represent a shield of protection of the white race.

He is influenced by the symbols of the unfolding world around him.
The crown gives him respect and authority; however, the crown having a bird on it signifies the illusion that he is a liminal figure or a diviner. In the journal article “The Sign of the Divine King: An Essay on Yoruba Bead-Embroidered Crowns with Veil and Bird Decorations” written by Robert Farris Thompson, he mentions that “we have seen there are probably active power concealed in the crown with fringes and it might be added that on ceremonial occasions skulls are mounted on staffs to deflect evil from the King of Benin” and adding a bird emphasized the Oba with witchcraft. The crown gives the Oba magical powers that he would typically not have, and because of this reason, he resembles a God-like figure. He has the power to hurt one if they are disobedient or acting up and can connect with the spirits demanding them to destroy one. Also, depending on the numbers of birds on the crown indicates how strong the Obas power is (Thompson 77).
However, this symbol could have some relations to religion, people associate fire with the divine wrath. Claiming that the wicked are punished by fire in the depths of Hell, but in this story the fire is used on the innocent making Elie begin to doubt the power of God later defying him. The other symbol important to the story is a little more obvious and is used in the title as well. As we look further
This was a symbol that connected to the chimneys with the human ash in the book of Night. In Night, another symbol was the Star of David. Jews have to wear the Star of David to be clearly identified. Another symbol in the film that literally stood out was the little girl with the red coat. The film was published in black and white so the producer made that distinct.
It symbolized death in the novel. Babies were getting killed and burned .another detail was the crematory ovens. It was another symbol of fire and death. One

Marigolds by Eugenia Collier is about a woman named Lizabeth looking back on her past, specifically the moment and things leading up to when she became an adult. “Chaotic emotions of youth” as she calls it are what really lead to the main event and are caused from confusion. The symbol of the moon represents the theme of freedom. Freedom is very important to many people if not everyone but to Ishmael he was free when he was a child. Ishmael said “I sat outside...thinking about how far I had come and what might lie ahead, I looked into the sky and saw how the thick clouds kept trying to cover the moon yet... reappear again and again to shine all night long.

In Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Ophelia intentionally kills herself. Spiraling into despair, Ophelia quickly drifted into madness eventually unable to coherently answer questions. In her final hours, Ophelia surrounded herself with the beauty of nature.
In the play Trifles written by Susan Glaspell the murderer isn't apparently revealed but is instead revealed through symbolism. For those that don’t know what symbolism is it is when a writer uses an item to represent an idea abstract or not. There are many forms of it in this story including a song bird and a quilt. With these items it becomes apparent to who is the murderer, and even why she did it. Little background on this story is that it came out after a wife's husband was murdered and she was imprisoned for it, she then appealed and was set free.
In the short story “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” written by Ursula K. Le Guin, the ones who walk away from Omelas represent evil just as much as the ones who stay in Omelas. This evil being the act of injustice against the child stowed away to spare the town’s prosperity and happiness. It seems fair to argue that the ones who walk away from Omelas are no better than the ones who stay and don’t try to help the child. Instead they go somewhere else to find their happiness. The child in the short story symbolizes a sacrifice.
