Ocean Acidification Effects

Green house gases, such as carbon dioxide, are effecting a lot more than just our atmospheres air pollution and climate changes. This colorless, odorless chemical compound is vital to our life organisms on earth but since the Industrial Revolution has been significantly over produced “…due to the burning of fossil fuels and land use change.” (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, year), which in return is harming our world in many different ways that we may have never even thought of. Specifically, this element is creating chemical changes in our oceans called ocean acidification (NOAA, year). Ocean acidification is becoming an increasingly substantial problem due to its hazardous effects to marine life and seawater which eventually …show more content…

Before the Industrial Revolution, ocean acidification changed slowly, allowing time for marine life to adapt to its changes. However, now-a-days, as a result of agricultural changes, textiles, iron, steam, and notably, coal mining and transportation, no room is left for aquatic life to adapt, but instead they are forced to live in the circumstances pushed upon them (Yale, year). This uncontrollably effects the quality of marine life, and if continued will undoubtedly diminish this world’s biodiversity, which in time may become irreversible if it is not …show more content…

Studies such as this, help gain information in hopes of deepening our knowledge of this topic. The more we know about this sustainability problem, the higher chances we have of acting on this urgent issue.
I am passionate about this issue because I find it to be my human obligation to take care of the world we live in. I feel as though being the top of the food chain, comes with the responsibility of making sure the chain stays in line. In addition, humans have the capability of monitoring the health of our planet, where other creatures do not, leaving the rest of the living beings depending on us to be conscientious and resourceful, keeping our earth in good condition. I believe others should care about this issue as well because they share the same human responsibility as I
