John Steinbeck describes a world where the American Dream is simple, but hard to achieve. John gives us a character name Lennie, who is portrayed as a villain. Steinbeck painted a spine chilling portrait of American in the 1930s. Steinbeck divulges that sometimes we can't control oneself. We aren't doing these things out of malice. They are only happening because we can’t stop them from happening. Lennie touches a young ladys dress, kills a little puppy, and kills Curley’s wife. Lennie was portrayed as a villain because in the beginning he had pulled a young woman's dress. In the book George says “Jus’ wanted to feel that girl’s dress…...she jerks back and you hold on like it was a mouse” ( Steinbeck 81). Lennie was only touching her dress because he wanted to feel it. He was not doing it out of unscrupulousness. Lennie wants to touch everything that he likes that's why he puts his hands on things that he shouldn't be touching. When he does those things people really don’t know what he’s doing that’s why the girl dress that he touched went around saying that he ravish her but he really didn't rape her. …show more content…
In the book he said, “ Why do you got to get killed? ….... I didn’t bounce you that hard.” ( Steinbeck 85) Lennie was too strong for his own good. He did not mean to kill that puppy he was only trying to show that puppy some love. If lennie was not holding that puppy so tight he wouldn't have killed it. But he was so scared that he would get in trouble with George and he wouldn't let lennie tend the rabbits. So lennie tried to conceal the puppy so he wouldn't get in trouble
