In Of Mice and Men, John steinbeck
John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men is a literary masterpiece that has been widely recognized for its exploration of themes such as loneliness. In the story there are two characters, George and Lennie. The novel tells the tale of two great friends and their struggle to live the American Dream. In his 1937 novella Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck explores the idea that those who are lower in the power of hierarchy are the loneliest as demonstrated by the beginning and middle of the story. In the text, Steinbeck uses metaphoric imagery to convey how those with less power are the ones that will end up lonely. Towards the middle of chapter four, Crooks is finally opening up to Lennie about how he gets sick of being so lonely and decides to finally expose him to the outside world.
