Most people value strong relationships. The novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck is a story about two friends, George and Lennie. George and Lennie have different mindsets. Even though they have two different mindsets they have things that keep them together. George and Lennie have a complex relationship but even though they have a difficult relationship they have things that keep them together and their differences from other people keep them together. The difference between George and Lennie and other people are that George and Lennie have a better relationship than most people. In the novel it says: “Uh-uh. Jus’ a dead mouse, George. I didn’ kill it. Honest! I found it. I found it dead.” “Give it here!” said George. “Aw, leave me have it, George.” (5) George was like a father to Lennie and George cared about Lennie so he took the rats away from Lennie. If George never cared about Lennie he wouldn’t take the rats away from him or look out for him so much. As Lennie says, “Lennie broke in. ‘But not us! An’ why? Because… because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that’s why.’ He laughed delightedly. ‘Go on now, George!” (14) Lennie is telling George that they have each other and in the book everyone else on the farm are distant from each other. People on the farm never communicate as friends and everyone is basically beefing. Also, Lennie and George have a dream farm and no one else thought about having dreams until George told someone about their dream farm. Because Lennie and George had a dream farm this makes them different from everyone else. Because they had difficulties and got through them, this makes them different from everyone
