The Book of Mice of Men is one of John Steinbeck is stories that take place during The Great Depression. It follows George and Lennie, who are traveling from ranch to ranch trying find a job. Then they talk about their dream of a future together and how they aren’t lonely like other guy because they have each other. The novel’s storyline is good and if you haven’t read it,you should. This book So popular they made a movie out of it, like all of Steinbeck’s good books. The movie is good too, but the plot of the movie misses key plot point, that are added and missing from the book. Furthermore, they added a scene where when Curly’s wife and George are in the barn together, and she examines and questions George and give a role so when she dies it gives more emotions. For the most part Curly’s wife plays a better role in the movie, but sacrifice a real theme that gives the book the time period. Curly’s wife also play in the theme of racism, One example of her showing the racism theme is when she tells Crooks where his place is on page eighty-one "Well, you keep your place then, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy, it ain't even funny.", it shows the time period they are in and racism was an element in the time period Secondly, in the movie the character Slim isn’t used at all except maybe Six times. In the book he plays a bigger role as a buddy with George and his friend when “someone” dies on page one hundred and six “Slim twitched George's elbow. "Come on, George. Me an' you'll go in an' get a drink.". In the movie I hated how they used Slim he just background Character and not giving a good role as George friend, but I will give the movie some credit for at least giving him a role as someone who care for
